When I ask...

The moon is on the rise.
Change is our constant, but I wonder is there a greater change, a force, a momentum at work for truth? For justice? For peace? As I sit here, Mcleod Ganj is bustling with people from all over the world. People, pilgrims of truth come to have a glance at a living reincarnation of the buddha of compassion---His holiness the Dalai Lama. They also come to support the tibetan people as we approach the historic day---March 10th, 2009.
From 1959 to 2009--50years in exhile, 50 years of resistance to the chinese government which seeks to devour the land of these people as our ancestors once devoured the land of the red man--the navaho, the sioux, the arrapaho, the shoshonee, the hopi...the list goes on.
And why I ask, does history repeat itself?
Why are the indigenous people of this planet treated so brutally?
The brutality is embedded in this greed, the paranoid fear for the power of the world.
Manifest your destiny, across the land.
Head west my boy, they said back then.
Head north they say without any knowledge that as they move north they simaltaneously are participating in cultural genocide.
Ignorance? Culturally blinded?
The roof of the world.
The heart of the west.
What is the difference...and why must it repeat itself?
March 10th, 1959 the tibetans rose up, revolted for truth...couragious disedance against the monster. David and Goliath.
A failed revolt.
But a successful escape of His Holiness.
Oh, yes and some 80,000 tibetans to follow.
exodus.
fleeing this genocide.
saving lives, culture, the way.
a way so unique.
minds so full of heart, so connected to the earth.

And so I ask, what can be done?
where does justice prevail?
When will this dark period end, and illumination begin?
When, good lord, will truth prevail?
2012? Polar shift?
From ME to WE, from greed to green?

Until then, I will continue to believe.
and to prepare by standing on my head, breathing from my head to my toes.
recirculating, as to prepare phyisically for this shift.
so my head can feel my heart beat constantly as I bow in the face of truth, and stand strong in the face of injustice.

may this all find you and instill you with courage.
as I mentioned earlier---look to the root.
This word courage finds its latin roots in the cor, the heart.
When I ask will we all have the courage to stand for truth, and not just for "I" and "ME".

among the tibetans

Here among the tibetans I find myself perched once again.
Losar, the new year of the moon, brings us here...
celebrating for the hope of the coming cycle, but mourning all those martyrs whom have
sacrificed their own lives for the struggle and ultimate freedom of tibet.

black flags line the streets, white letters enscribed---po or tibet.

simple.
black and white: innocent people are dying everyday, cultural genocide is happening at the top of the world.

the monks of this society are the ultimate activists.
liberation theology at its best.
they embody and stand up for TRUTH.
not hiding behind a script, but with open palms and open hearts couragiously walking in light of freedom for tibet.

I found myself haning out with many tibetan youth, mostly males for women do not really hang out like we are used to.

we drank we talked broken english and tibetan we shared ideas, thoughts, visions.

and now the energy of the new moon is on the rise. Losar comes with the new moon, and as this moon cylce comes to be, we will see what energy the full moon will bring. OH yes, as it is the full moon falls on March 10th---the tibetan day of uprising. Maybe wisdom, compassion, truth will strike down on the minds of the reigning Chinese and call for real peace, real justice, and real autonomy for these beautiful people.

until then, we all must cultivate this wisdom with in.
Educate yourself.
stand for truth.
embrace this life, and have gratitude for what you have.

coming of age

She's a young girl, over there...
infused with joy, yet often invisible to those she loves.
She's a young girl, indeed her face and laugh as young as the day, but her eyes as wise as the owl perched outside tonight.
A young being, but an old soul, she redefines respect as she embodies this namaste.
She bows down to the guru embedded in the moment.

Ah this young girl bows down to even you, as you disrespect your being
as you steel time from tomorrow, as you loose your awareness of today.

She still sees your light deep inside, and bows down to you, awaiting the day you awaken and stand up.

She is a young girl over there, straight hair green eyes changing like the sea.

But this spring this youth, like a seed, will finally find the light inside to blossom outward.

Stepping into this power.
she's a young girl, but soon all will finally see her old soul.
And begin to bow down to her and awaken to themselves.

Re*Cognize

Re-cognize
Re-call to mind
Re-cognize all those negative eyes as butterflies, let go, and start again.
Re-learn
Re-wind and slow down to the rhythm of YOUR--
heart beat.

I believe in this beat.
The rhythm of silence.
The inner sound of truth, love, compassion, courage.
Cultivate.
kNow this word courage down to its latin roots
where "cor" means heart.
This heart of hearts, I bow down to her
head to heart
heart to head

I believe that our breathe is our connection to rhythmic wisdom.
listen with profound respect.

in deep silence
profound wisdom
resides inside, a seed.

And you are the gardener,
the breathe the guiding light,
and graceful, compassionate awareness the flowing water.

Self sustained nourishment
from moment t moment.
Rooting down into the heart, into the earth.

RE-connect,
Re-cognize.

Growing up towards the mind this guide and voice of light.
Photosynthesize with poised integrity
from the roots of the heart to the stem of expression

Truth reins here
what is...
IS.

and with this clarity I feel the grace of the mind unfolding
to all that is
from moment to moment

We all are our own sources of light
dispelling darkness, misconceptions
now the power to turn all negative eyes into butterflies...

RE-cognize.

Teachers exist in every moment, in every face, and in every thing.
Awaken to each as an opportunity to GROW,
towards the light
lightness in darkness
lightness in heaviness light mind,  light step, light action

Soft Smile

Eye Believe in a smile as a reverberating act of peace.

As we evolve as a species, I chose to evolve with love.
Rooted in compassion.

With this energy, I believe my coexistence will unfold as effortless as a flower opens
towards the sun-light.
photosynthesize with poised integrity.

Recognize.

Adjusting

traveling home from another land
there is so much to adjust to
then you throw in love, lust,
expenses, and cultural disappointments
It all is a great big recipe for heart ache and tears
loneliness and loss
But at the same time
I feel so rich with adventure and inspiration
It is all such a hard knot to untangle
to figure out which end ties to what
and where is my place
in this great big beautiful
mess

here and there

Thursday nite here
Thursday morn there
hours behind. worlds apart.
falling in love so far from home is not an easy conversation to relay across such
time barriers.
it is not an easy conversation.
But I do my best to stay afloat
to remain calm through this and stay in my truth
honoring this love for what it is.
knowing that they too will see this love clearly as it comes into focus.
as there becomes here
and here is no longer so far from there.

As a Tree

Our lives so deeply rooted in the west
embracing what is true
growing up
experiencing new sights
reaching out to new ideas
enduring the seasons of life
growing tall and strong
grounded by the roots of true friendship
and the support from the seeds of past generations
We become comfortable with who we are
in all of the layers of our bark
to our core
Only then can we grow with another
to form a relationship with deep roots
based on love
with similar ideals to plant and watch new seeds grow
know that I will always be by your side
when the leaves blow from your branches
or when the snow is too heavy to bear
to talk and laugh as trees do
in the whispers of the wind
